Air Liquide is joining forces with Grenoble École de Management (Grenoble School of Management) to become a partner of the Energy For Society chair, which aims to study the impact of new energy services that reconcile business attractiveness and acceptance by the general public.
With a duration of three years, the purpose of this chair, presided by Carine Sebi (chair coordinator and assistant professor at Grenoble École de Management, specialized in economics and energy efficiency), is to study the impact of new energy services that reconcile business attractiveness with acceptance by the general public. It is divided into three research projects aiming to understand and reconcile energy challenges and develop new business models that will involve companies' sustainable innovation strategies, new models of cooperation in order to create innovative energy services, and the implications of new modes of usage on the energy sector's emerging economic models.
As a key vector of the nascent energy transition, hydrogen energy is an integral part of the issues that will be tackled by the Energy For Society chair. One of this sector's specificities, which will also be the subject of research, is hydrogen energy's unique ecosystem. This ecosystem is based on the various players' will to cooperate, through the creation of numerous consortiums and partnerships. Air Liquide is behind several such initiatives, like the Hydrogen Council, H2Mobility, HysetCo, and Japan Hydrogen Mobility.
In the context of Air Liquide's support to this program, the Group will also provide Grenoble École de Management with concepts and concrete case studies related to the demand for new energy services. This partnership is part of Air Liquide's strategy to find sustainable and eco-friendly solutions, including low-carbon hydrogen production, to protect the environment. Faced with the stakes of climate change and the challenge of the energy transition, Air Liquide develops environmentally friendly new solutions while looking to meet consumer needs such as on-demand use.
In the past 50 years, Air Liquide has developed unique expertise enabling it to master the entire hydrogen supply chain, from production and storage to distribution and the development of applications for end users, thus contributing to the widespread use of hydrogen as a clean energy source, for mobility in particular. Air Liquide has designed and installed more than 120 stations around the world to date. Hydrogen is an alternative to meet the challenge of clean transportation and thus contributes to the improvement of air quality. Used in a fuel cell, hydrogen combines with oxygen in the air to produce electricity, emitting only water. It does not generate any pollution at the point of use: zero greenhouse gases, zero particles and zero noise. Hydrogen provides a concrete response to the challenges posed by sustainable mobility and local pollution in urban areas.
